Stroll along the paved waterfront looking out at the Bourtzi Castle floating in the bay, or wander the quiet squares. It feels less like a tourist site and more like a living postcard.

• Our final destination is Epidaurus, the ancient world's most celebrated healing sanctuary dedicated to Asclepius.
