Day 1: Athens - Corinth Canal - Ancient Olympia - Delphi
- Your 3-day private road trip through the heart of mainland Greece begins early. Your driver picks you up from your Athens hotel and heads straight for the Corinth Canal - standing on the bridge and looking down at the 80-meter drop to the water below is the perfect way to stretch your legs and snap your first photos. From there, we drive through the Peloponnese straight to Ancient Olympia. Standing on the actual stadium track where athletes first competed in 776 BC, with the marble starting blocks still intact, is a spine-tingling experience. After exploring the birthplace of the Olympic Games and the Temple of Zeus, we head to a vibrant local spot right by the Olympia market. Here, you’ll enjoy a curated, quick, yet high-quality wine and olive oil tasting to experience the region's rich flavors without slowing down your day's momentum.
- In the afternoon, we cross the spectacular Rion-Antirion Bridge into mainland Greece. We will make a brief, scenic stop at the picture-perfect Venetian harbor of Nafpaktos for a quick coffee and some beautiful photos, before tackling the final, gorgeous coastal drive up to Delphi for your overnight stay.
Day 2: Delphi - Arachova - Kalambaka - Meteora Sunset
- Visiting Delphi in the morning, right before the day-trip crowds arrive from Athens, is a completely different experience. You will have plenty of time to explore the Treasury of the Athenians, the Athenian Stoa, the sacred Castalia Spring, and the exceptional archaeological museum.Just 10 minutes down the road lies Arachova, Greece's most famous mountain village. It is worth every minute of the detour - stretch your legs, grab a traditional lunch, sample the local formaela cheese, or enjoy a coffee with a view before we begin the drive north. You will arrive in Kalambaka in the late afternoon. Seeing the colossal rocks of Meteora from ground level at golden hour is something you won't find in any standard guidebook photo. Enjoy a relaxing dinner and overnight stay in town.
Day 3: Meteora Monasteries - Thermopylae - Athens
- The Monasteries of Meteora are a UNESCO World Heritage Site - but nothing prepares you for seeing them in person. Perched atop towering sandstone pillars, you will visit the Great Meteoron, the oldest and largest monastery, and the Monastery of Saint Stephen, which offers effortless access and sweeping views across the entire Thessalian valley. After a traditional lunch in Kalambaka, we begin our drive south back toward the capital. One final legendary stop on the way back: Thermopylae, where the statue of King Leonidas marks the site of the most famous last stand in history. Standing where the 300 Spartans faced the Persian Empire brings the ancient text to life. Your driver drops you off back at your Athens hotel in the late afternoon.
