Day 1: Athens - Thermopiles - Meteora - Sunset tour around the rocks
- Embark on an excellent Christian tour of Meteora as our driver meets you at your hotel at 08:30. We begin with a visit to Thermopylae, where the statue of Leonidas stands as a memorial to the famous battle of the 300 Spartans against the Persian Empire. Continuing through Central Greece, we arrive in Kalambaka, a charming traditional town nestled at the foot of the majestic grey rocks. As the evening approaches, you'll have the opportunity to witness the stunning sunset over the rocks, immersing yourself in the unique energy of the wild environment. Overnight stay in Meteora.
Day 2: Monasteries of Meteora - Truffle Hunting
- After breakfast, we explore the captivating monasteries of Meteora, a truly impressive sight where ageless monasteries cling to massive rocks, housing priceless historical and religious treasures. Our first stop is the grand Varlaam Monastery, founded in the 16th century and perched at a height of 380m. It is the second-largest monastery in the Meteora complex, home to a significant number of monks. We then visit the St. Stephan Monastery, which dates back to the 15th century.
- (Optional) Today, we recommend an incredible truffle hunting experience beneath the rocks of Meteora. In the beautiful and lesser-known forests of the region, you'll have the opportunity to participate in truffle hunting, enjoy a delicious pasta dish infused with freshly found truffles, sample various mushroom products, and discover the fascinating world of mushrooms through a museum tour. The duration of this experience is approximately 3 hours, after which you can continue your visit to the monasteries. Overnight stay in Meteora.
Day 3: Meteora - Delphi Athens
- At 09:00, our driver will pick you up from your hotel to visit the Grand Meteoro Monastery, the largest among the monasteries in Meteora. Built in the mid-14th century, it underwent restoration and embellishment projects in later years. The monastery also houses a museum for tourists to explore. Leaving Meteora behind, we head towards Delphi, where we will visit the Ancient Oracle, the Stadium, the Ancient Theatre with seating for over 5000 spectators, and the Museum of Delphi, home to the famous "Charioteer" statue, considered one of the finest bronze statues ever created. Afterward, we can enjoy coffee or lunch in the picturesque winter resort town of Arachova, located at an altitude of 1000 meters. We return to Athens in the late afternoon.
