Agia Triada Tzagarolon Monastery
- Out on the Akrotiri peninsula, fifteen minutes past the airport, a Renaissance facade rises in the middle of Cretan olive country. The monastery was founded in the early 17th century by two brothers from a Venetian-Cretan family, and it still works its own land. You see the church, the courtyard and the small collection of icons and historic objects. We come here first, in the quieter hours, before the coaches arrive. Shoulders and knees covered, a light scarf is enough.
The Cellar: Olive Oil and Wine Tasting
- Down in the cellar, the monks keep what the land around you produces. You taste the olive oil and the wine at the source, not in a shop in town. It is a quiet, authentic part of the visit, connecting the flavors in your glass with the vineyards and olive groves you have just walked past. The entrance to the monastery is included in your tour, and you can also browse the monastery shop for local products and specialties to take home.
Chania Old Town and the Venetian Harbor
- Cars cannot enter the old town, so Thanasis drops you at the edge of the pedestrian area and meets you again wherever you agree.
