The 5-day private classical tour of Greece with a visit to Zakynthos is the perfect opportunity to explore the top historical sites in Greece while also experiencing the beauty of Zakynthos Island, known as Turtle Island. With this tour, you'll have the chance to see and swim with friendly turtles if you're lucky!

The tour will take you to some of the most popular sites in Greece, including the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus, one of the world's best ancient theaters. You'll also visit the ancient town of Mycenae, where the Mycenaean civilization thrived between 1650 and 1200 BC. 

In addition, you'll tour the romantic seaside town of Nafplio and visit the birthplace of the first Olympic Games at ancient Olympia. While in Zakynthos, you'll relax on the island's sandy beaches and take a boat cruise to see the stunning Blue Caves and the famous Navagio Shipwreck. You'll even have the chance to take unique photos with turtles!


Location

Day 1: Athens - Mycenae - Epidaurus - Nafplio - Olympia:

  • Meet your private driver at your hotel to start your amazing  tour. Visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ancient Epidaurus and take in the breathtaking view of the famous Canal of Corinth. Explore the beautiful town of Nafplio and discover its iconic Venetian fortress and Bourtzi islet. After a delicious lunch or coffee, journey to the ancient town of Mycenae and marvel at the Lion Gate, the Cyclopean Walls, the Palace, and the tomb of Agamemnon. End your day at the birthplace of the Olympic Games, Ancient Olympia, and rest in comfort with an overnight stay.

Day 2: Ancient Olympia - Honey, Olive Oil and Food Tasting  - Zakynthos: 

  • Admire the birthplace of the Olympic Games with a visit to Ancient Olympia, where you'll be transported back to 776 B.C. Marvel at one of the seven wonders of the Ancient world, the gold and ivory statue of Zeus, as well as the Council house where athletes took the Olympic oath, the Treasury houses, the Gymnasium, and the Palestra. Visit the stadium, where the marble starting blocks are still in position. We will visit the flea market to taste delightful experience of free wine and olive oil tasting, savoring the distinct blends of olive oil and the iconic Greek olives.  We will visit a local honey farm, where under the shade of the trees we will have a coffee / juice and enjoy hand-made local desserts all made with honey produced in this farm for generations.  Afterward, head to Kyllini Port and catch a ferry to Zakynthos, where you'll check into your hotel before exploring the center of town and enjoying a traditional tavern dinner. Overnight in Zakynthos.​

Day 3: Zakynthos - Cruise around the Island: 

  • Embark on an exciting day cruise around Zakynthos Island, starting with a transfer from your hotel to Zakynthos Marina to board a local boat. Departing at 09:00, the cruise takes you on a tour of the island's top attractions, starting with a visit to the famous Blue Caves and the iconic Shipwreck. Here, you'll have 1.5 hours to enjoy a swim and take in the breathtaking views. The boat will then make a stop at Porto Vromi for a photo opportunity next to the Agalas Caves and the Keri Caves, followed by a big photo stop at Turtle Island, where you'll get a chance to see the friendly turtles that swim in the gulf of Laganas and Kalamaki. Next, the boat will anchor for about an hour in the area of St Nickolas, Vasilikos, for another swim stop. Throughout the cruise, you'll be amazed by the crystal-clear waters and stunning landscapes of Zakynthos. Overnight in Zakynthos.​

Day 4: Zakynthos - Delphi - Meteora:

  • After enjoying breakfast at your hotel in Zakynthos, we'll take the ferry from Zakynthos port early in the morning arriving in Kyllini after a one-hour journey. From there, we'll continue our tour to Delphi, crossing the impressive Rion-Antirion bridge - one of the largest in Europe - before reaching the beautiful seaside town of Naupactus. Here, we can take a short break to enjoy a coffee while admiring the Venetian Castle and Port. Next, we'll arrive at Delphi, where we'll visit the Ancient Oracle, the Stadium, the Ancient Theatre - which could seat more than 5000 spectators - and the Museum of Delphi, which houses the famous 'Charioteer' bronze statue. Delphi is renowned for its oracle, which was dedicated to Apollo during the classical period.
    After our visit to Delphi, we'll head to Arachova, a charming small city located at an altitude of 1000 meters and Greece's most famous winter resort. As we drive through Central Greece we will arrive at Kalambaka, a small traditional town at the foot of the majestic grey rocks of God, which are home to the great Meteora Monasteries. Overnight in Meteora.​

Day 5: Meteora - Thermopiles - Athens: 

  • Enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime journey to Meteora and experience the awe-inspiring sight of ageless monasteries perched on top of colossal rocks, standing tall between Earth and Sky. During the tour, you will visit two of the most famous monasteries - the great Monastery of Varlaam and the Monastery of St. Stephan - both located atop enormous rocks that stand at staggering heights of 380m and 330m respectively. Marvel at the intricate architecture and the priceless artifacts that are housed within these monasteries, and discover the rich history and culture that they embody. On the return journey to Athens, with a stop at Kamena Vourla by the seaside, and Thermopiles, where the statue of Leonidas stands as a memorial of the legendary battle of the 300 Spartans against thousands of Persian soldiers.

Cancellation Policy

  • In order to confirm any booking, 30% payment in advance is required, fully refundable in case of any written cancellation received 40 days prior the arrival date.
  • For any cancellation OR change between 39 days to 20 days prior the first day of arrival, cancellation fees equal to 100% of the payment in advance applies.
  • For any cancellation OR change within 19 days prior the first day of arrival and/or non shows, full cancellation fees applies – the total cost of the program.
  • A written notification of any cancellation or change is necessary to be sent to PRIVATE TOURS Greece.
