4-Day Private Tour Mycenae, Olympia, Delphi, Meteora

Discover the roots of ancient Greece on a 4-day private tour from Athens, journeying through some of the country's most remarkable historical landscapes. From the Bronze Age citadel of Mycenae to Olympia, birthplace of the Olympic Games, onward to Delphi, home of the famous Oracle, and finally to the extraordinary monasteries of Meteora - this classical Greece tour visits four UNESCO World Heritage Sites at a pace entirely your own.

Traveling with a private driver means you explore without the constraints of group travel, free to linger where your interests lead.

    The Experience

    • Walk Through History: Explore the remains of powerful ancient kingdoms, visit sacred sanctuaries, and stand on the grounds where the first Olympic Games were held in ancient Greece.
    • From Delphi to Meteora: Follow the paths once taken by pilgrims beneath Mount Parnassus before continuing north to the Meteora monasteries, where centuries-old religious communities rise dramatically above the Thessalian plain.
    • The Journey Between: Beyond the archaeological sites, you'll experience the changing landscapes of mainland Greece, pass through traditional towns, enjoy panoramic viewpoints, and stop whenever you wish for local cuisine, photographs, or simply to take in the scenery.

Day 1: Athens to Olympia via the Argolid - Corinth Canal, Mycenae, Epidaurus & Nafplio

    • Your private driver will meet you at your hotel or the Athens Airport to begin the journey south toward the Peloponnese. The first brief stop is at the Corinth Canal, the historic engineering feat connecting the Aegean and Ionian seas. From there, you will enter the heart of the Argolid region to explore two of antiquity’s most significant sites: the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus, celebrated for its masterfully preserved 4th-century BC acoustics, and the Bronze Age citadel of Mycenae, where you can walk through the monumental Lion Gate to the royal tombs of the Homeric kings. Before heading to Olympia, enjoy a midday break in Nafplio, Greece’s elegant first capital. Here, you can walk through the neoclassical alleys beneath the Palamidi Fortress or look out over the bay to Bourtzi Castle. In the afternoon, a scenic drive across the Peloponnesian countryside brings you to Olympia for your overnight stay.

Day 2: Ancient Olympia to Delphi - Local Tastings & Nafpaktos

    • Dedicate the morning to Ancient Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympic Games in 776 BC. The archaeological site includes the original running stadium, the ancient gymnasium, and the remnants of the Temple of Zeus, which once housed one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. After the site, step away from the ruins to experience the region's agricultural roots. You will visit a family-run estate for a private introduction to local honey production, followed by a tasting of regional olive oils and wines, pairing exceptional extra virgin varieties with traditional local products. Leaving Olympia, you will cross the Corinthian Gulf via the modern Rio-Antirrio Bridge. Stop for a relaxed seaside lunch in the medieval harbor town of Nafpaktos before winding up the slopes of Mount Parnassus to arrive in Delphi for the evening.

Day 3: Delphi & Arachova to Meteora & Sunset Tour

    • Spend the morning exploring Delphi, once revered as the spiritual center of the ancient world. Walk the Sacred Way to the Sanctuary of Apollo, the Ancient Theatre, and the Stadium, then visit the archaeological museum to view masterpieces like the famous bronze Charioteer. Before leaving the mountain, stop briefly in the stone-built village of Arachova, known for its traditional architecture and artisanal shops. From Parnassus, you will travel north through the plains of Thessaly to Meteora. As the day winds down, your driver will take you to the best vantage points among the towering sandstone pillars to experience the landscape during the quietest, most photogenic hours of the late afternoon. Overnight in Kalabaka or Kastraki.

Day 4: Meteora Monasteries & Thermopylae to Athens

    • The morning is dedicated to the spectacular clifftop monasteries of Meteora. You will visit two of these active Byzantine sanctuaries, which seem to balance on steep rock faces, to view their historic frescoes, ecclesiastical treasures, and panoramic views of the valley below. On the return drive to Athens, the itinerary includes a stop at the historic pass of Thermopylae to view the monument dedicated to King Leonidas and the three hundred Spartans. The journey concludes in the late afternoon with a drop-off at your hotel or the Athens Airport.
