Travel time from Athens: approx. 50-minute flight or overnight ferry. Crete does not reveal itself quickly. Travel time from Athens: approx. 3 hours by high-speed ferry. Sarakiniko, the white volcanic rock formation on the northern coast of Milos, looks like the surface of the moon and photographs like nothing else in Greece. How many days do I need for a Greek island tour?
- It depends entirely on the island and what you want to do. Santorini rewards two full days minimum for the caldera villages, the volcano, the wineries, and the archaeological site. Crete needs at least three. Milos and Sifnos can be done beautifully in two days each. We advise on realistic timings at the enquiry stage.
Is it better to fly or take the ferry from Athens to the islands?
- For islands with airports, including Santorini, Mykonos, Crete, Rhodes, Corfu, Zakynthos, and Kefalonia, flying saves significant time, especially from June to September when high-speed ferry demand is high. For Naxos, Paros, Milos, and Sifnos, the ferry from Piraeus is the standard option and part of the experience. We advise on both and arrange whichever you prefer.
Can you combine multiple islands in one package?
