Best Greek Island Tours

Every visitor to Athens looks out at the Aegean at some point and thinks the same thing: I need to get on a boat. The Greek islands are not a footnote to an Athens trip. For many people, they are the reason they crossed the world to come here. The problem is that getting there, moving between islands, and actually experiencing them rather than just passing through requires more planning than most people expect until they are already in it.

Greek Island Tours: The Islands, Entirely on Your Terms

Since 2008, we have been putting together private multi-day island packages for travellers who want more than a ferry ticket and a hotel booking. We handle the ferry or flight from Athens, the private transfer at the other end, the accommodation recommendations, and the guided experiences on the island itself. You arrive and everything else is already done.

Why the Greek Islands Reward Private Travel

The most photographed corners of Santorini, the ones that look like nothing else on earth, are a 25-minute walk from where the day-trip crowds concentrate. Most visitors never make it there. This is not because it is difficult, but because nobody told them, and their group tour turned around before they got close.

The same is true on almost every island we cover. The best beach on Milos is not the one on the poster. The finest meal in Naxos is not in the port. The view from the interior of Corfu that locals drive to on Sunday afternoons has no signpost and no entrance fee. Knowing these places, and having a driver and guide who will actually take you there, is the difference between seeing an island and understanding it.

Our Most Popular Private Multi-Day Island Packages

1. Private Santorini Tours: Beyond the Caldera Postcards

Travel time from Athens: approx. 45-minute flight or 5 hours by high-speed ferry. Most people arrive in Santorini and head straight to Oia for the sunset. We go to Akrotiri first, the Bronze Age city buried under volcanic ash that most visitors walk past on the way to a wine tasting. By the time the day-trip boats pull in and the caldera path fills up, we have already covered the island's best-kept corners: the clifftop vineyards of Megalochori, the black sand of Perissa before the sunbeds arrive, and the back lanes of Pyrgos where the only sound in the morning is a church bell. The sunset in Oia is still on the itinerary, we just do everything else first. For cruise passengers, our Santorini shore excursions follow the same logic. Still planning your days? Our guide to things to do in Santorini is a good place to start.

Private Mykonos & Delos: Past Matogiannia, Into the Real Island

Travel time from Athens: approx. 40-minute flight or 2.5 to 4 hours by ferry. Matogiannia, the narrow whitewashed lane that winds through Mykonos Town, is where the island shows its real face. In the early evening, when the light turns gold and the day-trippers have gone, the tavernas fill with people who actually live here. That is the Mykonos worth seeing. Our private Mykonos package is built around moments like this, plus the short boat crossing to Delos. This is the sacred island directly opposite where almost no one from the crowds actually goes, despite it being one of the most extraordinary ancient sites in the Aegean. Arriving by cruise ship? Our Mykonos shore excursions are built around the same approach. See also: things to do in Mykonos beyond the obvious.

Crete Multi-Day Itineraries: Knossos, the Samaria Gorge & the Kitchens of Anogia

Travel time from Athens: approx. 50-minute flight or overnight ferry. Crete does not reveal itself quickly. The Minoan Palace of Knossos needs time, not the 45 minutes a tour bus allows, but a proper morning with a guide who can explain why a civilisation this sophisticated simply disappeared. The Samaria Gorge takes half a day on foot. The mountain village of Anogia, where every taverna cooks with lamb from animals the owner knows by name, is a 40-minute drive from Heraklion and a world away from anything on the tourist map. Cretans will politely correct you if you suggest their food is anything like the rest of Greece. Our multi-day private Crete tour gives the island the time it deserves. Cruise passengers stopping at Heraklion or Chania can start with our Crete shore excursions.

Rhodes After Dark: What the Street of the Knights Looks Like Without the Crowds

Travel time from Athens: approx. 1-hour flight. The Street of the Knights in Rhodes Old Town is one of the best-preserved medieval streets in Europe. At 10 AM it is full of people taking the same photograph. At 8 PM, after the cruise ships have left and the day visitors have gone back to their hotels, it is almost empty, and the light on the old stone at that hour is something you do not forget. Our private Rhodes tour is timed around moments like this. We combine the old town with Lindos, the ancient acropolis perched above a fishing village on the eastern coast, and the quieter western shore that most visitors never reach.

Naxos & Paros: The Portara at Sunset & Naoussa on a Tuesday Morning

Travel time from Athens: approx. 3 to 4 hours by high-speed ferry. The Portara, the massive marble doorway of an unfinished temple standing alone on a promontory at the entrance to Naxos port, is one of those things that stops people mid-sentence. It has been standing there for 2,600 years and it still looks like it arrived yesterday. Paros is best understood at Naoussa, the fishing village on the northern coast that manages to be both genuinely charming and genuinely popular without sacrificing either quality. Greeks choose these two islands for their own holidays, which is usually the best recommendation you can get. Explore our private Paros tours and cruises, or combine both into one of our Greek island hopping packages.

Milos & Sifnos: Sarakiniko at Dawn & the Pottery Villages of Sifnos

Travel time from Athens: approx. 3 hours by high-speed ferry. Sarakiniko, the white volcanic rock formation on the northern coast of Milos, looks like the surface of the moon and photographs like nothing else in Greece. The trick is arriving before 9 AM, before the boats come in and the rocks fill up. By midday it is a different place entirely. Sifnos runs on a different clock, slower, quieter, built around the pottery workshops of Artemonas and the kind of lunch that lasts three hours without anyone checking the time. We have been bringing travellers to both islands for years, and the guests who come back to Greece always ask to return to one of these two first.

Corfu, Zakynthos & Kefalonia: The Ionian Light That First-Timers Can Never Quite Describe

Travel time from Athens: approx. 1-hour flight. There is something about the light in the Ionian islands that visitors from the Aegean always notice and struggle to explain. It is softer, greener, and more Venetian. This makes sense because Corfu spent 400 years under Venetian rule and it shows in every building in the old town, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2007. Zakynthos has Navagio, the shipwreck beach enclosed by white cliffs that appears in every Greece travel feature ever written, and it completely earns the fame. Kefalonia has Melissani, an underground lake inside a collapsed cave where, at noon, the light comes through the open ceiling and turns the water a colour that has no name. Our private Ionian island tours cover all three, individually or as one combined trip.

The Fleet & Island Transfers: Smooth Transitions From Port to Hotel

An island holiday often lives or dies by the quality of your ground logistics. Navigating steep island roads, catching tight ferry connections, or managing heavy luggage in the summer heat should never feel like an ordeal. We eliminate the stress of local taxi shortages and crowded public shuttles with a modern, privately operated fleet waiting for you the exact moment you clear arrivals:

  • Premium Mercedes E-Class Sedan: Executive comfort and smooth island touring for couples or solo travellers.
  • Mercedes V-Class Luxury Minivan: Top-tier spacing, extra luggage capacity, and climate-controlled luxury for families or groups of up to 6.
  • Mercedes Vito Minibus: The perfect group option for up to 8 passengers who want to travel together without compromising on legroom or panoramic views.

Every vehicle in our island network features high-output climate control, complimentary chilled water, and full insurance coverage. Your journey between the port, the airport, and your resort becomes a seamless, relaxing extension of your vacation.

How Our Multi-Day Island Packages Work

There are no fixed group departures, no minimum numbers, and no off-the-shelf itineraries we simply re-sell. Every package is built around your travel dates, your group size, and what you actually want from the islands.

  • Getting there: Ferry from Piraeus or domestic flight from Athens, whichever suits your schedule. We arrange both and meet you at either end.
  • Transfers on the island: Private vehicle and driver from the moment you arrive at the port or airport. No shared minibuses, no waiting for other passengers.
  • Guided experiences: Licensed local guides for archaeological sites, wine tastings, and cultural experiences, all arranged in advance, not improvised on arrival.
  • Accommodation: We recommend and assist with booking properties that fit how you want to experience the island, not just the closest hotel to the port.
  • Return to Athens: The same service in reverse. Your island driver takes you back to the ferry or airport. Your Athens driver meets you on arrival.

Who These Packages Are For

Travellers who have done the Greek islands before and want to do them properly this time. Families who need the logistics handled so they can actually relax. Couples who have one week in Greece and do not want to spend two days of it deciphering ferry timetables. Groups who want a shared experience without the compromises of a group tour.

What they all have in common is simple: they want to come back from Greece having actually been there, not just photographed it from the same angle as everyone else.

Frequently Asked Questions - Greek Island Tours

How many days do I need for a Greek island tour?

  • It depends entirely on the island and what you want to do. Santorini rewards two full days minimum for the caldera villages, the volcano, the wineries, and the archaeological site. Crete needs at least three. Milos and Sifnos can be done beautifully in two days each. We advise on realistic timings at the enquiry stage.

Is it better to fly or take the ferry from Athens to the islands?

  • For islands with airports, including Santorini, Mykonos, Crete, Rhodes, Corfu, Zakynthos, and Kefalonia, flying saves significant time, especially from June to September when high-speed ferry demand is high. For Naxos, Paros, Milos, and Sifnos, the ferry from Piraeus is the standard option and part of the experience. We advise on both and arrange whichever you prefer.

Can you combine multiple islands in one package?

  • Yes, and for travellers with more than five days, we usually recommend it. The classic combinations are Santorini and Mykonos, Naxos and Paros, or Milos and Sifnos. Browse our Greek island hopping packages for inspiration, or tell us your dates and we will suggest the best combination. We handle all inter-island connections so you never have to think about ferry timetables.

Do your island packages include accommodation?

  • We provide recommendations and, on request, assist with booking. We do not lock you into specific hotels. We work with what suits your budget and preferences, from boutique guesthouses to luxury cave suites.

What happens if a ferry is cancelled due to weather?

  • This is the main benefit of booking a private package. If a ferry route is altered or cancelled due to summer winds, our Athens-based team handles the rescheduling of flights, alternative ferries, and ground transfers immediately, ensuring your holiday continues smoothly
