8H Cruise to Shipwreck-Navagio & Blue Caves...

8 hours group cruise excursion: Book a group cruise tour in Zakynthos as it is the best way to see the most popular sites of the Blue Caves and the Shipwreck of Zakynthos. The caves are only accessible by sea and it is a unique experience to visit it. Swim at the crystal water of Shipwreck & the turtles’ bay, if you will lucky, you will see huge Turtle to swim next to you!

The exotic white sandy beach of Shipwreck was originally known as Agios Georgios but took this name in 1982, when the cargo ship “MV Panayiotis”, smuggling contraband as per local rumors, run aground in that bay. The other highlight of the tour is the visit to the Blue Caves, a true wonder of nature. The Blue Caves consist of particular geologic formations giving life to a succession of caves along the North-West coast of the island; We will pay a visit to Marathonissi, a small private island in the turtles’ bay close to Limni Kerì’s beach.

Until the second world war there were people leaving on this island, but today it has neither inhabitants nor buildings. It is now one of the areas where the loggerhead sea turtle (widely known as “Caretta-caretta sea turtle”) go to breed. Finally, we will visit the Keri are to admire a memorable sunset! The duration of the cruise is about 10 hours

Location

  • Pick up: We start this wonderful day picking you up from one of our set pick-up points and bringing you to the harbor of Zakynthos town, wherefrom our boat leaves at 9.345a.m.! With the beautiful view of Zakynthos town behind us, we sail off the port and head north along the east coast, passing the sandy beaches of Tsilivi, Planos and their beautiful surrounding landscapes. You can lay back, relax and enjoy the view!
  • Xigia beache: Heading further to the north you can admire the beaches of Alikanas and Alikes, after which we reach Xigia Beach- known for the Sulphur springs and their curative properties! So, we stop there for our first swim! The small, picturesque fishing village Agios Nikolaos follows.
  • Blue Caves: And, soon after, the amazing view of the famous Blue Caves! There, we slow down the boat and get very close to the caves so you can take nice photos of this natural phenomenon. The blue color is caused by the water reflecting the sun to the walls of the caves and creating a seabed of all shades of blue and turquoise.
  • Cape Skinari: We continue sailing around the Cape Skinari, the northernmost part of the island, and if you are lucky, you might also spot some dolphins! Once we pass Skinari the landscape changes enormously into very steep cliffs, rocks with small hidden bays, caves, and inaccessible beaches…
  • Shipwreck beach: And the highlight is the awaited, world-wide known Shipwreck beach (or Smuggler’s cove)– one of the most beautiful beaches in Greece! You will be overwhelmed by its sight as we enter the bay! And our boat stops very close to the shore, so you can easily walk down the gangplank and step right on sand! We stay their midst the unbelievably turquoise water for about an hour!
  • Porto Vromi: After you’ve enjoyed our little paradise, we sail to the western coast. And explore Porto Vromi, where Poseidon´s face, shaped in the rocks, is waiting for us, watching over this small fishing bay.
  • Agalas Cave: Then, after admiring the wild landscape of cliffs, caves, and hidden coves, you will have the chance to visit the biggest cave on the island, Agalas! The cave is so huge that the whole cruiser fits in! So, our skillful captain will give you the chance to take some amazing photos from the inside!
  • Keri Cave: Having reached the south of the island we see the famous Caves of Keri. The caves in this area are also home for the Mediterranean monk seals Monachus Monachus. We make another refreshing swimming stop at Oasis Beach, where the water is so clear that it’s a perfect place for snorkeling!
  • Laganas Bay or Turtle Island: As we then enter the Bay of Laganas, be ready as you might be lucky enough to see some turtles and capture one of your most memorable holiday moments! For sure however, you will stun at the turtle-shaped island of Marathonissi, the turtle’s beautiful nesting place!
  • Return to Zakynthos: On our way back to Zakynthos town we pass several long sandy beaches in Vassilikos such as Gerakas, Porto Zoro, Banana Beach, Porto Roma and St. Nicholas Beach. The boat arrives back at the port at 5.30 p.m., where our coaches will be waiting for you to bring you back to your resorts.
